Word of the day: Waffle Sauce.
Because I couldn’t remember “maple syrup.” 😂🤣
These are the conversations that happen while hiking. LOL
This may have been the first time we did Shannon as an out and back. At least on this side of the mountain. (It gets hard to mentally keep track after a while, you know. LOL But thinking back, actually, I believe we may have done east yellow by itself once. But neither Hummingbird or I recall ever going down the steeper west yellow.) There were two very intentional reasons for doing it this way today…
First, we know the trail has good tree cover on this side, so expected protection from the wind chill. Which we got, unlike at the open summit. 🥶
Second, and the primary reason, with the 52 Hike Explorer Challenge, we can’t count repeated hikes/trails, so we want to preserve as many unique ways up Shannon as possible, so we can go several times and get credit. 😉
Bonus tonight: we timed it just right for a lovely sunset. Of course, Shannon is always beautiful no matter what.
Hummingbird calls this "Nature Porn". LMAO
Hike 7. 2/27 Shannon Mt. west yellow trail, 2 mi, 1 hr, 541 ft.
